Big Helper

Wm went on a field trip to Indian Caverns yesterday with summer clubhouse. He LOVED it. He got to pan for gems and came home with a tiny sack of tiny rocks/"gems." He chattered on about it all evening.  Today, he goes to the Military Museum.  He's having a great summer!

I heard Wm having a one sided conversation with Schroeder while he was getting ready for bed last night. It went like this: "Yeah! You get that fly, Schroeder! Get 'im! OH MY GOD! WAIT, CAT, NOOOO! THAT'S A SPIDER!  NOOOO!!!  DON'T GO NEAR IT!!!!" I'm not sure why eating a spider is so much deadlier than eating a fly, but I enjoyed Wm attempting to protect Schroeder from a tiny spider. Wm also insisted we give Schroeder his birthday present now so he can "enjoy it over the summer" - even though his birthday isn't until September. For his birthday, we got him a little cat bed and cleared a space on the window ledge in the dining room for his use. He is a fan.

Then, as I was tucking Wm into bed last night, he goes, "Mommy…I am going to be your big helper while Daddy is gone. I know how hard it is to do everything by yourself. So I will try to help you with everything!" Sweetest.

Steve got up at 3am last night and left the house at 3:30 for his conference.  So Wm and I just survived our first morning Steve-free!!  We won't see Steve again until this weekend. Alllll byyyyy ouuuuurselves...
